PICTOU - The Municipality of Pictou County says it is still waiting on word from the Town of New Glasgow about placing fire hydrants near Plymouth.

Coun. Andy  Thompson requested that the municipality look into installing a fire hydrant near the Irving service station on East River Road after a barn fire at the former Farmer Clem's proved how difficult it was to get water to the area without the use of hydrant.

However, the Town of New Glasgow needs to be involved in the discussions because place a hydrant there involves tapping into some of its infrastructure.

The county will send an official letter to the Town of New Glasgow requesting information on the project.
