PICTOU - Day eight of the preliminary inquiry for Christopher Alexander Falconer wrapped up Thursday.

Falconer is charged with murder and kidnapping in relation to the death of 19-year-old Amber Kirwan who disappeared from a downtown New Glasgow pool hall on October 9th, 2011. Her remains were found a month later in Heathbell, Pictou County.

Crown attorney Patrick Young said the inquiry is going along as expected and should wrap up next week. The Crown has four more witnesses to call.

"Things as going as they should, there have been no surprises and cross examination is to the point and as a result of that we are moving along," he said following Thursday's session.

The courtroom galley was three-quarters full today with spectators sitting in to hear the testimony of witness 22. Members of both of the Kirwan and Falconer family were present in the courtroom.

The inquiry will resume Monday afternoon and a full day has been set aside on Tuesday.
