STELLARTON - Nova Scotia's Lieutenant Governor Brig.-Gen. John J. Grant was in Stellarton today to present five Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals.

The ceremony saw nearly 80 family and friends come out to the Stellarton Fire Hall.

Medal recipients were Stanley Allen, Leo Fahey, His Worship Joe Gennoe, Reverend Charles MacPherson and Dr. Lynn Megeney.

The medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the sixtieth anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. It was was given for having made a significant contribution to a particular province, territory, region or community within Canada, or an achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.
