MOUNT WILLIAM - Pictou County Solid Waste (PCSW) is seeing some positive results from its new waste management strategy.

Susan MacDonald, Educator at PCSW said the amounts of organic waste have risen dramatically while non-recyclable waste has dropped.

The policy, which tageted poor-sorting practices by consumers at fast food restaurants, has seen those establishments increase the amount of organic waste produced.

The organic waste is then sorted by PCSW and is turned into compost in about a year.

More to follow later today.
