TRURO – At a Chignecto-Central Regional School Board committee of the whole meeting held Wednesday evening, the operational services committee recommended that the board name the new New Glasgow Primary to Grade 8 School "New Glasgow Academy."

The name came forward from a committee of parents, students, teachers and community members who gathered surveys and narrowed potential names down to five. New Glasgow Academy was the final name chosen and recommended to the operational services committee, who then recommended the name to the board at the committee of the whole meeting Wednesday.

The board will officially make a decision on the school name at a future board meeting.

New Glasgow Academy? Seriously. Its a P-8 school. Academy should be saved for bigger High schools or private schools. Give the school some form of identity, a name people recognize. Horrible name!
