The Pictou County Scotians lost their final game against the Strait Pirates, 6-4.

The Pictou County Scotians season is over.

Despite tying the game 3-3 early in the third period of Game 7, the Scotians couldn’t get the lead and eventually fell 6-4 to the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates Sunday night in Trenton.

The Pirates had taken an early jump on the Scotians scoring three goals in the first period. The Scotians fought back in the second to bring the game within a point with goals by Darryl Wheadon and Brad MacEachern.

Within the first three minutes of the third period Scott MacLean, assisted by Brandon MacKenzie and Tim Robertson scored to tie the game for the Scotians, but it was short lived.

Within the minute, Evan Wright scored to give the Pirates back their lead. Morgan Timmonds extended that lead before Nicholas Hodgson assisted by Bradley MacEachern scored the Scotians final goal.

Bryson Landry scored an empty net goal to wrap up the game.

The Scotians has lost Game 6 on Saturday to the Pirates 9-3.

Overall the Scotians finished the regular season with 40 points to finish second in the Sid Rowe Division.

A large crowd turned out for the final game with cars filling the parking lot and lining the street on both sides for a long distance leading to the Trenton rink.
