RCMP are holding a training session this week at a local school.
On Friday there will be an increased police presence in and around the Northumberland Regional High School in Alma as officers conduct Immediate Action Rapid Deployment training. This training ensures officers are prepared to immediately deploy to an ongoing, life-threatening situation and take whatever actions are necessary to contain a threat.
Given it is March Break, no students will be at the school while the training is underway. Local residents will notice an increase in the number of police officers and vehicles in the area between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The training is not open to the public.
