A 49-year-old Pictou County man is facing charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act after police responded to his residence to investigate a domestic assault complaint and found a grow operation.

On Monday at 10:15 a.m. RCMP were called to a home just outside of Westville,  to investigate a domestic assault complaint. During the course of the investigation, members were alerted to a marijuana grow op in the basement of the home.

A search warrant was executed at the home later in the afternoon with assistance from the Pictou County Street Crime Enforcement Unit.  The search resulted in the seizure of 40 marijuana plants, hydroponic grow equipment, harvested marijuana and a small quantity of cannabis resin and oil.

The man who is facing charges of assault, production of marijuana, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of cannabis resin under one gram will appear in court on Monday.

    did they get to use the cougar? I bet they did!! that is soo cool! NGPD are my favorite, always going after the crimes that truly effect our community in such a negative way. I feel so much safer now knowing New Glasgow's finest will be safe while patrolling the mean harsh streets of Pictou County
