Helen Guthro, a member of the Artists by the Sea Association, adds a few brush strokes to a painting depicting the coast around Caribou River. The painting will be given as a door prize at the association's art show on May 4 from 6-8 p.m. at the New Glasgow Public Library.

NEW GLASGOW - For these ladies, attending painting classes is a learning and social occasion.

The 'Friends by the Sea Artists Association' will be holding an art show on Sat., May 4 at the New Glasgow Public Library from 6-8 p.m.. Original art will be for sale with some proceeds going to the library. The night will include light refreshments, music from the NRHS Jazz Combo and the Master of Ceremonies will be John Ashton.

The cost is $5 at the door. Attendees have the chance to win a "36 x "28 inch acrylic painting of a coastal scene near Caribou River.
