One person is dead and several injured after a major accident on Trans-Canada Highway 104 near Broadway between New Glasgow and Antigonish.
Pictou County District RCMP said two vehicles were involved, a small car and a light truck. The car was travelling west bound and the truck east bound when they had a head on collision.
Three 17-year-old females from the Port Hawkesbury area were in the car. Of those three, Breanna Lundrigan of Mulgrave, N.S., was pronounced dead on arrival. One was taken by LifeFlight to a Halifax hospital and one was taken by ground ambulance to the Aberdeen in New Glasgow.
Two males were in the truck and both were transported to the Aberdeen. One of the two males was later taken on to Halifax because of the extent of his injuries.
There is still no detailed update on the conditions of the those involved, but Const. Shane MacNeil admitted Tuesday that LifeFlight is used for more serious injuries.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist was called in to assist with the investigation which is still ongoing.
