St. FX prof given international award

St. Francis Xavier University Human Kinetics Professor Dr. Charlene Weaving has been awarded the International Association for the Philosophy of Sport 2013 Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contributions of the philosophy of sport.

Weaving received the honour recently at the 41st Annual Meeting of International Association for the Philosophy of Sport (IAPS) in Fullerton California.

“It is a great honour to have been nominated and I was thrilled to receive this award because of my fondness for the association and wonderful friendships I have made over the years,” said Weaving.

Weaving has been an IAPS member for 13 years. She first presented at the international association as a masters student in 2002. The StFX professor was elected Secretary-Treasurer in 2009 and held a three-year term then was re-elected for a second term. Weaving was nominated for the award, and then awarded via voting by the membership.
