PICTOU – A former Pictou County man charged with drinking and driving two years ago finally had his day in court.

Scott Lee MacNeil pleaded guilty Monday to driving while intoxicated in 2011 after he was stopped by police because his vehicle was swerving on Trenton Road.

MacNeil, who now lives in Alberta, was sentenced to 30 days in jail since he had a past DUI conviction in 2006. However, the decision didn’t end his legal matters.  He was found guilty in 2007 on two assault charges, but never appeared for his sentencing.

A sentencing hearing will be held in Antigonish as soon as possible on these charges since Provincial Court Judge Del Atwood was the Crown attorney at the time of the 2007 incident and cannot be involved in his sentencing.
