The gold exhibit will be on display until Sept. 29, giving schools the chance to teach their students more about the mineral.
It has been there since May and was supposed to end after Labour Day. The museum was given the opportunity to hold onto it for a little while longer and decided to seize it.
The exhibit, curated with the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, offers a collection of paintings from Joseph Purcell, hands-on components showing how to pan for gold and history of the mineral in Nova Scotia.
School groups will get in for free, but anyone else hoping to get one last look can pay the low cost of admission.
