Jordie Lane will be performing at the deCoste on Saturday.

PICTOU—Belle Starr and Jordie Lane will play the deCoste Centre on Saturday as part of the Discovery Series in the Murray Room.

Belle Starr, the talented folk-country trio of Stephanie Cadman, Kendel Carson, and Miranda Mulholland present a diverse collection of tunes rooted in modern music. From treasured Canadian indies to the marquee icons, the trio puts their twist on the old-time folk resurgence, tuning their three fiddles to the more recent past.

As busy solo artists, Miranda is a member of indie darlings Great Lake Swimmers; Kendel is well known in the Americana world, in part from her work with ‘Wild Thing' songwriter Chip Taylor; and Stephanie is a prize-winning fiddler and dancer, known to locals for celebrated turns in Celtic Blaze and Canada ROCKS

Born and raised in Melbourne’s inner-north, singer-songwriter Jordie Lane is a musical prodigy of sorts. He began at age four with a ukulele, by nine had moved onto electric guitar and by the time he finished school had already formed his first band. His debut album ‘Sleeping Patterns’, triggered rounds of praise: Rolling Stone Magazine glowed that it “may come to be regarded as the most assured debut ever by a local artist” and Rhythms Magazine said the album confirmed Lane’s reputation as “one of Australia’s brightest new roots music stars”.

Tickets for the show are on sale at the deCoste box office and at the door prior to the concert.  Call 1-800-353-5338 or purchase online at  Showtime is 8 p.m.
