NEW GLASGOW - Police have charged a 52-year-old female from New Glasgow with impaired driving and refusal after a multi-vehicle collision Sunday.
New Glasgow Regional Police Service received a 911 call at approximately 11:40 a.m. for an accident involving four vehicles.
“We’re very fortunate that no one was killed,” Const. Ken MacDonald said about the incident that left the driver with minor injuries and three vehicles with extensive damage.
After investigation, police discovered the driver of an Envoy SUV was travelling westbound on Marsh Street and turned onto Temperance Street, heading northbound.
She began driving on the sidewalk and struck a parked green Acura. The Acura hit a Subaru behind it as part of a chain reaction.
The driver continued on and hit a Dodge van, moving it 15 feet, until she came to a sudden stop at Forbes Street.
Three vehicles were towed.
She remains in custody.
