PICTOU – A resolution is expected to reached next month in the court case involving a Stellarton police officer accused of uttering threats.
On June 24 this year, Stellarton Police Service received information that in 2010 Stellarton police officer D'Arcy Gallant, a three-year veteran of the Stellarton Police Service, uttered threats towards the two women in the town of Stellarton.
Stellarton Police requested the assistance of the RCMP to investigate. As a result Gallant has been charged with two counts of uttering threats under the Criminal Code.
Gallant wasn’t present for a scheduled court appearance Friday in Pictou provincial court, but the Crown told court that a trial would no longer be necessary and a resolution has been achieved.
The matter is scheduled to return to provincial court on Nov. 22 and Gallant will remain on a court undertaking until his next appearance. He has been suspended from duty pending the criminal court proceedings and subsequent Police Act Internal Proceedings.
