The Pictou County Chamber of Commerce launched a project that was commissioned by the Pictou County Regional Development Agency before it was closed.
Jack Kyte, who was formerly director of the PRDA and is now executive director for the Chamber of Commerce, said the purpose of the video was to promote the area particularly in respects to attracting workers to come here.
“PRDA asked the Chamber of Commerce if they would accept this video and try to use it to the advantage of the business community,” he said. “The initial purpose was to have something that local businesses could use when they were recruiting people from outside Pictou County.”
The video, which was done by Vision Fire, includes a series of interviews with people who have moved to this area from away. In it they describe what it’s like to live and work in Pictou County.
The video has been received positively and is already being used by the Aberdeen Hospital to recruit.
“It’s a very good general promotion of our area,” Kyte said. “We’ve got it on Youtube now.”
He said they’re allowing businesses to use it and are considering the possibilities of what to do next.
“We see the potential in doing more of this,” he said.
