The Town of Westville finished off the 2012-2013 fiscal year in fine form.
The town ended with a $319,200 consolidated surplus. It continues a trend that’s seen the town reduce it’s accumulated deficit each year. This year they were able to reduce that deficit by $67,000.
“It’s a good trend,” said town CAO Scott Fraser. “I think it’s got a lot to do with the town managing its own departments.”
The town has taken over their public works operations and also streamlined other town functions.
“There were a lot of things we were able to make more efficient,” he said.
Fraser for instance handles both accounting and administration for the town.
