United Way of Pictou County is now accepting applications for their 2014 funding period. United Way funds local non-profit organizations that provide programs and services that make Pictou County a healthier and safer place for all residents.
‚ÄúUnited Way is about inspiring people to come together to make lasting positive changes here in Pictou County,‚ÄĚ says the United Way‚Äôs Board Chair, Anne Marie Colbert. ‚ÄúWe want to help create a community that is thriving, supportive, and safe, and where people and organizations have opportunities to share knowledge and resources.‚ÄĚ
United Way provides two types of funding: Global and Program funding. Global funding intended for the general use of the organization’s operations without restriction and Program funding is designated for a specific program and not to be used in other budget areas.
A Community Investment Committee, comprised of community volunteers, will review all the funding requests and conduct in-person interviews with the applicants to develop funding recommendations. They determine which organizations should receive funding, and the amounts, terms and conditions of such funding. Their funding recommendations are then presented to the United Way Board for final approval.
The application can be found on the United Way’s website: www.PictouCountyUnitedWay.ca or picked-up at their office located at 342 Stewart Street, New Glasgow. For additional information, please contact Jessica Smith, Executive Director at 755-1754 or email@example.com.
