Marc St. Hilaire is a lucky man.

Terry Steeves, manager of the Stellarton Central store, presents Marc St. Hilaire and his wife Ruth with their prize of a $5,000 certificate to spend at the store which the couple won in a contest in The News. Since they are subscribers to the paper, they will also receive $1,500 from Chediac Furniture to spend at the store. ADAM MACINNIS – THE NEWS

Not only was he a finalist in The News contest last summer to win a Dodge Dart, but just this week he won a home makeover contest from Central worth $5,000. Since he is a subscriber to The News he’ll also be receiving $1,500 to spend at Chediac Furniture.

St. Hilaire makes a habit of entering contests and has been a faithful reader of The News since he moved here in 1998.

He’s only ever won one contest before from another organization. That was for a cruise.

In the past he’s put dozens of ballots in for contests. This time he only entered a few but was fortunate enough to be chosen.

“I tell him, you only need one to win,” his wife Ruth said.

The couple plans to spend the money on updating their kitchen.

“We needed a new fridge and stove anyway,” Marc said. “It couldn’t happen at a better time.”

He thinks they might also get a kitchen counter and some other related items.

The timing of the news was also great. It happened on Dec. 11, the couple’s 42nd wedding anniversary.
