SCOTSBURN – A local storeowner is puzzled as to why the word “liar” was written across his front window Tuesday night.

Dan Vachon, owner of the Scotsburn Country Store and Market, said Wednesday that when his son Caleb arrived to work around 8 a.m., he noticed the word written across the front window.

“We don’t know if someone was ticked off or not,” he said. “If someone has a problem, we wish they would come in and talk to us.”

Vachon opened the store in August and business has been steady ever since, he said. The community has welcomed the Vachons to the area so he doesn’t know why someone would do such vandalism.

He said the word washed off the window with some hot soapy water so the damage wasn’t too extensive, however, he did call in the Pictou County RCMP to investigate.

Vachon said he is working on improving the lighting around the store for better security.
