Pictou East Progressive Conservative MLA Tim Houston says the Liberals are making a mockery out of the independent tendering process.

The Liberal government announced this week that the independent review of the entire provincial economic development assistance system will be conducted by a handpicked recipient.  Just last week, the Liberals cancelled the independent tender process.

“This is not the trustworthy, transparent approach the Liberals promised Nova Scotians as they went door-to-door campaigning just a few short months ago,” said Houston. “It sends a terrible message to business about how things work here in Nova Scotia.”

Houston stressed that his concern rests with the process, not the recipients.

“This is about every company having the opportunity to win government contracts based on merit,” said Houston. “Everyone deserves a level playing field and that is not the case here.”
