Two injured in collision on East River Road

NEW GLASGOW – Two people were sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a collision on East River Road in front of the Tim Hortons Monday.

Police, fire and EHS responded to the scene at around 11:30 a.m. and traffic was tied up for about 40 minutes.

Const. Ken MacDonald of the New Glasgow Regional Police Service said a Toyota Echo was coming out of the Tim Hortons and heading northbound when it collided with a Volkswagen Passat heading southbound. The two people in the Passat are the ones who were injured.

MacDonald said there are charges against the driver of the Echo. The investigation is ongoing.
