Jack Lewis named New Glasgow deputy mayor

Mayor Barrie MacMillan has announced the appointment of councillor Jack Lewis as deputy mayor.

Lewis was first elected to council in Ward 2 in 2004, re-elected in 2008 and again in 2012.  He previously served as deputy mayor in 2008. The veteran councillor is Chair of the New Glasgow Regional Police, a position he had held for seven years and is currently Vice President of the Nova Scotia Association of Police Boards.

Owner of Jack Lewis Electric for 30 years, Lewis has also served on several other town committees such as the New Glasgow Business Advisory Committee, New Glasgow Communities in Bloom, Pictou County Waste Management and New Glasgow Water Utility/Water Shed Management Committee. He has been an active community volunteer working with local service clubs on many community projects well as working with several community centres boards over the years. 

"I am honoured to take on this duty and look forward to carrying out these responsibilities again,” Lewis said
