PICTOU – A 20-year-old Pictou man arrested Tuesday will spend the next 14 months in jail for breaching a conditional sentence order.
Donald Roy Cyr was serving a conditional sentence order from July 2013 when police executed a search warrant on a Kempt Street residence Tuesday. Cyr was arrested and charged with possession of illegal drugs, which included a small quantity of cocaine and dried marijuana, as well as six marijuana plants that resulted in a trafficking charge. Cyr also faces three weapons charges.
The Crown asked that Cyr’s existing conditional sentence order be collapsed because he violated three conditions of it by being in the presence of drugs, firearms and failing to keep the peace.
He will return to Pictou Provincial Court March 3 to enter pleas on the new charges.
