Locals among ECMA nominees

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI - A number of locals have been nominated for East Coast Music Association awards, including Dave Gunning, E.B. Anderson and The Resolutes, and Glasgow Square Theatre.


Dave Gunning, Pictou’s hometown hockey song extraordinaire, is up for four awards, including Solo Recording of the Year for “No More Pennies;” Songwriter of the Year for “These Hands,” composed with local country star George Canyon; Fan’s Choice Entertainer of the Year; and Fan’s Choice Video of the Year for “These Hands,” directed by Scott Simpson.

Canyon is nominated for his own award for Country Recording of the Year for “Classics II.”

E.B. Anderson and The Resolutes have reeled in a nomination for Rising Star Recording of The Year for “Broken Down Horse.” Front man Anderson is originally from Trenton.

The Stanfields have also received a nod for Fan’s Choice Entertainer of the Year. Band member Mark Murphy is formerly from Stellarton, while Jon Landry hails from New Glasgow.

Thom Swift, now living in Seafoam, is up for Blues Recording of the Year for “The Fortunate Few.”

Gordie MacKeeman, originally from New Glasgow, and His Rhythm Boys are nominated for Roots/Traditional Group Recording of the Year for "Pickin N Clickin."

One of Pictou County’s venues also received a nomination. Glasgow Square Theatre is up for Venue of the Year.
