The Town of New Glasgow and the Municipality of the County of Pictou have announced that they will contribute $600 collectively to Clara’s Big Ride – Bell Let’s Talk, which will be coming to the Pictou County Wellness Centre on April 16.
“We are very pleased to contribute to this initiative that will support the Pictou County MI (Mental Illness) Family Support Group and their Families Matter Education Program as well as to support Clara’s Big Ride,” said New Glasgow Mayor Barrie MacMillan. “Clara Hughes has been an inspiration to Canadians both as an Olympian and as an advocate and champion for moving mental health forward. She is a difference maker and a champion in every sense of the word.”
Warden Ron Baillie said, “We are honoured to welcome Clara Hughes, a six-time Olympic medallist, to Pictou County as one of the 95 communities where she will visit during her 110-day journey. It is incredible to think Clara will cycle between 75 and 225 km per day. It is a privilege to have Clara Hughes visit our region. She is sure to continue to inspire us.”
The Town of Stellarton also voted this week to contribute to $125 to the event.
