Police need help finding dangerous driver

Pictou County District RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a vehicle and its male driver that was involved in a near miss of a pedestrian at a local gas station.

On Tuesday evening at approximately 7:40 p.m., RCMP received a 911 call about a vehicle that nearly struck a man in the parking lot of the Blue Acres Esso.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a man was returning to his vehicle at the pumps when he heard the motor of a car rev up and tires begin spinning at the same time.  He saw a vehicle heading straight for him at a high rate of speed and the man, who was nearly struck. was able to jump out of the way. The suspect vehicle continued at a high rate of speed onto the main road and turned up MacLellan's Brook Road.   The suspect vehicle is described as a Toyota Corolla, possibly either silver or cream in colour. The vehicle had a firefighter's plate on it with numbers 3 and 1. Anyone with information about this vehicle can contact Pictou County District RCMP at (902) 755-4141. The investigation is continuing.

    could also have been a farm/marine plate. easy to confuse.

    So does the RCMP not have some sort of a centralized database, where they can enter a make/model of a car and narrow it down even further with a partial plate registered to a firefighter? That makes no sense that they have all these details but can't locate the car.
