Pictou Landing to hold commemorative event for residential school survivors

PICTOU LANDING – Survivors from Nova Scotia residential schools will gather on Monday in Pictou Landing as part of a commemorative ceremony.

Local, Cape Breton and Indian Brook survivors will be in the Pictou Landing gymnasium as a plaque is unveiled, recognizing several First Nations communities and the history of residential schools.

Alan Hatfield will be hosting the event, which will also feature drumming, dancing and refreshments.

It runs from noon until 3 p.m. and is open to the public.
