On this 97th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, we remember a young Pictou County soldier whose life was cut short during the battle.

Lieutenant Percy Thompson is listed on the Glencoe cenotaph for his sacrifice during the First World War. He was 25 years old when he was killed in action on Vimy Ridge, France. He died April 9, 1917, while serving with the 5th Battalion, Canadian Infantry, and is buried in a cemetery in France.
