NEW GLASGOW - In a few weeks’ time, the town will come alive with art, including the New Glasgow Public Library.

Cristal van de Pol, New Glasgow Public Library branch assistant, and Steven MacLean, community outreach assistant, show off the door prize donated by artist Cathy Leeming for the annual art show fundraiser at the library.

As a lead-in to Art At Night, the library is holding their annual art show fundraiser on May 3, featuring visual art from the Friends by the Sea Artists’ Association.

“It’s a nice night for socializing and appreciating art,” Steven MacLean, the library’s community outreach assistant, said about the event.

One of the pieces will be Cathy Leeming’s portrayal of a rural landscape, which will be drawn as a door prize.

Leeming is the driving force behind the group, MacLean said, and is always involved.

As well as works from Friends by the Sea, the evening will include refreshments, and music by George Durning.

John Ashton will be the master of ceremonies, which runs from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

All proceeds will go towards library collection development.

Admission is $5.

They also have a display out back following the art gala as part of Art At Night.
