Man elected Supreme Court to face trafficking charge

PICTOU – A Stellarton man accused of producing and trafficking marijuana will return to court in July for a preliminary inquiry.

James Malcolm Russell MacDonald has elected his case to be heard in Supreme Court, but before it gets there, the Crown and defence will go through a preliminary inquiry in Pictou provincial court on July 30.

The 35-year-old man is accused of producing, possession and possession for the purpose of trafficking cannabis marijuana in addition to facing weapons charges related to unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Pleas are expected to be taken following the preliminary inquiry.
