INGONISH — Victoria County council is looking at a number of options to find a solution to the erosion of graves from a 200-year-old cemetery.

The matter was brought to the attention of council during Monday's regular meeting.

"It is going to take time to work through a solution," said Warden Bruce Morrsion. "We are in the process of setting up talks with other levels of government to see if something can be done to resolve the problem this spring ."

A resident out for a walk on Easter weekend came across bones on the nearby beach.

Erosion has been an ongoing problem for the United Church cemetery in Ingonish. It is estimated that over the years 30 to 40 graves have been washed out to sea.
