After a series of interviews, Morell was named Miss Teen Northern Nova Scotia, and was on the road to the national Miss Teen Canada Pageant in July.

“I love performing on stage,” said Morell, “I’ll get to meet so many new people, and I love that too.”

When she makes it to Toronto in July for the national pageant, Morell will spend a few days in the city before taking part in the pageant.

“Were just going to do a bunch of stuff together, like, we’ll go shopping, and well go to the CN tower, and dinner theatre shows,” said Morell, “then the pageant is one of the last few nights I’m there.”

There are a few different categories the Morell will compete in during the national pageant including, beauty, swimwear, and on-stage questions.

There will also be a talent portion to the contest. Morell who has been dancing since about the age of five said she is not sure yet whether she will compete in the talent portion since that portion is optional.

“I might be dancing,” said morel, “I probably will dance.”

As well as the other portions to the competition, contestants will also have to present their platform at the national pageant. Platform subjects can range from things like anti-bullying, to poverty awareness.

“I’m doing mental illness,” said Morell, “I just want to remove the stigmas.”

As for those considering running for the title of Miss Northern Nova Scotia next year, Morell says, “you definitely should, it’s a great experience.”
