The Pictou County Wellness Centre will finish the year with somewhere between a $700,000 and $750,000 deficit – much of which was predicted and budgeted for.
For the coming year the Wellness Centre Authority will be budgeting for about the same amount to be in the red.
That deficit is divided between the towns of Stellarton, New Glasgow, Trenton and Pictou and the municipality of Pictou County. Westville agreed to help with the capital costs of the Wellness Centre but did not agree to help fund the operating costs.
New Glasgow is responsible for 35.4 per cent of the deficit, Stellarton 29.6, the county 25.5, Trenton 5.6 and Stellarton 4 per cent.
On a $750,000 deficit, the town of Stellarton is responsible for about $222,000 under this system while the town of New Glasgow would be paying about $265,000.
