The Town of New Glasgow is donating bleachers to the Pioneer Coal Track in Stellarton.

The estimated value of the bleachers is $10,000 and is New Glasgow contribution to the enhancements/equipment for the Pioneer Track as a regional facility.

The bleachers hold approximately 500 to 600 people and were built through a provincial grant received by the Festival of the Tartans in the early 1980s.

The main people involved in the original project were Lawrence MacDougall, John Douglas and Lloyd Tattrie, said Kim Dickson, communications director for the Town of New Glasgow. MacDougall got the materials needed at a wholesale price and oversaw the engineering of the stands.
