The Pictou County Shrine Club will be taking part in the Exceptional Odyssey this Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
Shriners busy preparing for Thursday's event.
The Odyssey is a massive celebration of the construction of the new Shriners Hospital for Children in Montreal which provides ultra-specialised orthopedic care for thousands of children from Canada, the U.S. and around the world. The hospital's team of health care professionals provide expert pediatric care from scoliosis, brittle bone disease, club feet, hip dysplasia and cerebral palsy. The new hospital opens September 2015.
The Shriners fraternity founded the Shriners Hospitals for Children - Canada in 1925. Shriners financially support the hospital, assist with the transportation for patients and famlies and volunteer on the hospital board of governors.
There are currently 10 children from Pictou County in Shriner's hospitals.
The event at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wellness Centre is to bring awareness to the public of hte services available at Shriners Hospitals.
