WESTVILLE – Monday night the Town of Westville agreed to hold a public consultation session for the municipal boundary review on Sept. 22.
The town hopes to put forward two possibilities at the session, to maintain the status quo (ward system with mayor and four councillors) or move to an at-large system. Council will not limit the possibilities to those, but believe at this time those are their best options.
Town planner Roland Burek spoke at council on Monday, stating he gave three options to other municipalities. The additional option he gave was to reduce the size of council, which Westville doesn’t believe to be one of their better options moving forward.
Deputy Mayor Lennie White spoke on the topic, stating he believes council should maintain its size and move to the at-large system, but looks forward to public input.
