PICTOU - The Pipes of War, a performance recognizing the 70th anniversary of D-Day, will be held at the deCoste Centre in Pictou on the anniversary.
“D-Day was a tremendous pivotal point during World War II and deserves to be recognized by every Canadian yearly,” said the release from the deCoste Centre.
Na Gaisgich Pipes and Drums present a “Pipes of War” concert, which will focus both on the events of D-Day and the importance pipes and drums had on military efforts over the ages.
The infantry regiment of the North Nova Scotia Highlanders will be highlighted with a presentation of their contributions to Canada and abroad.
The evening will include all the pomp and circumstance respectful of the day. The stories behind the tunes will be explored and explained through the combined music of Na Gaisgich Pipes and Drums, Heatherbells Pipes and Drums, Cadets of Northern Nova Scotia, and special guests, including local musician Layne Greene.
