For the third year, the United Way of Pictou County and the New Glasgow Future Shop will be partnering together to present Cars for Change, a show n’ shine fundraiser.
The Cars for Change fundraiser is this weekend. Pictured is a photo from a previous event.
The Show will take place on Sunday and runs from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. in the Future Shop parking lot located beside Canadian Tire. Last year hundreds of people and cars attended from all over Atlantic Canada and over $4,000 was raised for the United Way of Pictou County and the organizations and programs they support.
“Last year we had lots of Mustangs, performance cars, and antiques cars,” says Jessica Smith, United Way’s Executive Director. “We’re hoping for a variety of vehicles to attend this year. We’ve extended the invitation to the car and motorcycle clubs in Atlantic Canada and some unique vehicles from around Pictou County to attend.”
Everyone is welcome to attend and registration and admission are both free. There will also be a fundraiser BBQ (hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, slushies and Big 8 beverages), a raffle on an Apple package that includes an iPad Air, Bluetooth speakers, Apple TV and much more, 50/50 draw, Xbox Forza Time Trials and games for children.
If you have a vehicle you’d like to show, you can register on-site between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
Everyone is also invited to come out and vote for their favorite cars. This year’s trophy categories will include:
· Anchor Motor’s Best in Show
· Eastern Tire’s Best Tires and Rims
· Future Shop’s Loudest Exhaust
· Highland Ford’s Best Tuner
· Maritime Auto Supply’s Longest Distance
