County council approves long list of grants

PICTOU – The Municipality of Pictou County has approved a long list of municipal grants during a recent monthly council meeting.

Grants approved include:

$500 to Hattie’s Cemetery for landscaping and maintenance expenses

$500 to Highland District Soccer Association as part of its three year commitment for sponsorship signage at the Sobeys Indoor Sports Complex

$7,000 for the District 13 Recreation and Planning Commission to assist with operating expenses

$350  to Na Gaisgich Pipes and Drums to assist with youth workshop expenses.

$100 to Susan Henderson to assist with travel expenses to participate in 2014 Canada 55+games

$100 to Softball Nova Scotia to assist with travel expenses for McKayla Symonds to play in the U16 Nationals in Brampton, Ontario.

$500 to the Pictou County Seniors Festival to assist with event expenses

$500 to Pictou County Celtic Association to assist with celtic workshop expenses

$500 to Seeds of Hope Community Garden for garden expenses

$3,750 to Community Recreation Programs in River John, Scotsburn, Thorburn, Lismore and Plymouth to assist the five recreation programs at 750 per program.
