The RCMP Northeast Nova Major Crimes Unit has made an arrest in relation to the murder of a missing Framboise woman.

On May 12th, 2013, 58-year-old Michelle Demers-Kennedy was reported missing from her residence on Three Rivers Road in Framboise, Richmond County. Extensive searches by the RCMP in conjunction with the Cape Breton and Strait Area Ground Search and Rescue Teams in the area near Demers-Kennedy’s residence failed to locate the missing woman.

As the result of a seven-month investigation, investigators continued to pursue a number of leads and a 30-year-old Framboise man was arrested without incident yesterday at his residence. He will be appear in Sydney provincial court at 9:30 a.m. this morning. His name and no other identifying information have not yet been released because the information has not yet been formally laid with the courts, but RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Alain LeBlanc said the man will be charged with second-degree murder. The investigation continues.
