To the editor,
Bravo to Matt Gunning and Paul Gregory for putting the issue of Northern Pulp's unhealthy impact on the people and land of Pictou County back on the map.
It is long past time to stop compromising health for employment. We have the highest incidence of respiratory illness in Nova Scotia and the terrible impact on Boat Harbour, and we can't even get an appropriate health study done, which has been repeatedly requested by the local Watershed Coalition. Let us get beyond using people and land, sea, air as guinea pigs and put the onus on industry and government to ensure product safety first.
Again, bravo to these two local young men. Let us, the people of Pictou County, get behind them and ensure the issue is dealt with ethically for a change. Frank Sobey called for change in a letter to you 28 years ago.
