To the editor,
As Election Day approaches it is important for Pictonians to examine the platforms of all parties, realizing that there are real risks in accepting all promises as fact. In particular, the Conservative blanket advocating of more jobs without substantive direction on how they will be created just doesn’t work. Real-life examples show over and over that tax cuts alone simply do not create jobs. Instead the result is no job creation and less revenue for essential services on which our families depend.
In the past voters in Pictou East have turned out in higher percentages than many other areas of Nova Scotia. It is my hope that on the evening of Oct. 8 we can look with pride at the numbers of electors who have participated in the democratic process. I encourage you to please get out to vote. Pictou East belongs to the people and they will decide the representation for the next Legislature.
Voters have a choice: we can continue moving forward or we can return to the failed policies and programs of the PCs and Liberals. For me, it has been an honour to represent such a diverse constituency and I am hopeful that we can continue what we have started together.
