To the editor,
Just a few words about the mail: we (in our area) have no problems with our mail carrier or the mail delivery. The problem is when you have friends who live on Abercrombie Road, and I live on Albert Street. Well it takes a week and a half to get from one side of town to the other.
The reason is they (the government) took even more jobs away from Pictou County. Our mail now goes to Halifax, gets sorted, and then comes back to Pictou County for delivery.
Why, when the job situation in Pictou County is not very good, are more jobs being taken away?
If it is because we need more mail sorters why not hire some people on social assistance or people on lower income to sort the mail?
It might just give them the incentive to rejoin the workforce. Of course I understand they will need training but it could make them feel better about themselves and it could create more jobs.
