Almighty dollar trumped reverence for veterans

To the editor,
Lest we forget? In response to David Hood, schedule and administration manager at the Pictou County Wellness Centre, regarding opening on Nov. 11, Remembrance Day.

Mr. Hood stated that because some people had expressed an interest to use the facility on Nov. 11, they had chosen to remain open. It would seem to me that the administration should have set a closure date policy rather than given in to those who do not seem to appreciate this day of Remembrance.

In my opinion, the actions of the administration demonstrate that the almighty dollar has once again trumped the reverence our veterans richly deserve. Maybe next November they will remember.

Bernie just because the facility is open on Remembrance Day does not mean people forget the importance of the day. Do you go to church every sunday? You don't have to go to church to be thankful for what god has given you. Same difference. I suggest you get off your high horse.

The real veterans who actually saw combat and fought for Canada would welcome a recreational facility to be left open on Remembrance Day.Those who did little-maybe fell of the odd bar stool at the wet canteen will complain!
