Improve mail delivery rather than destroy it

To the editor,

In regard to Canada Post, obviously we need someone in charge who would improve service, not destroy it – find a replacement.

There seems to be lots of mail to deliver. I see carriers with two full mail bags and see them stopping at drop-off boxes for more.

In this country there are many seniors and many handicapped people who would find it difficult to walk for their mail.

The present government is out of touch with the ordinary people in this country. You can’t buy land, install and service and maintain drop-off boxes for nothing. I would have thought a practical approach would have been to deliver mail on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

It was the fault of the post office for letting strikes go on for extended periods that gave rise to many couriers and lost business. After the next election, one of the present opposition parties will run the government and try to correct the mistakes of the present regime.
