To the editor,
I am more than a bit flabbergasted to read that the newly elected Government of Nova Scotia is stating via its Municipal Relations Minister Mark Furey that there will be only two options possible for the proposed governance study in Pictou County.
In my view this narrow lens is not rational nor reasonable nor tolerable, on a topic as complex and ticklish as this prickly task!
I hope Mr. Furey is wise enough to take a sober second look at this question, perhaps including a wee chat with the premier.
Over the years I have been a strong proponent of the need for a study such as this, but would never support a format so simple-minded as to have only two allowable options.
And it is my guess that none of the councils would go anywhere near an exercise with such limited options.
