To the editor,
A letter to the editor on Feb. 15 asked two questions. One asked the police services of Pictou County what if anything they were doing to keep drug problems under control.
Well Terry that is a very good question. Now I must tell you that we have a very good police service here in Pictou County. Starting with New Glasgow-Trenton and the other three towns, as well with the RCMP on highway duty and policing the town of Pictou. And there is also a very good street crime unit made up of all police services.
But we as community-minded citizens must also do our part in keeping crime under control by reporting things to the police service that stand out as a crime so the police service can deal with it. For they cannot do anything about it if they are not aware of it. As a police service they do a very good job in keeping our towns safe and clean of drugs.
And as for what the mayors are doing to deal with poverty that is one of the hardest jobs that one can deal with because of the loss of jobs and small businesses closing down or moving out of the county. So once again I say to you it is up to all of as us good citizens to come together and help others who do not have a good lifestyle. And for new business to come to the county that is a hard and never-ending job for all of us to be a part of. For Pictou County is one of the best places in Nova Scotia to work and play in. So let us all do our part and pitch in and help clean up drugs and bring jobs to our county.
