To the editor,
In writing this letter my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the RCMP officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

As well to their fellow officers wounded in the line duty and their families. And to all police officers who put their lives on the line whenever they are on duty.

As we sit and ask ourselves why did this terrible thing have to happen in the City of Moncton, and just what was going through the sick mind of this young man who did this – I am not sure we will ever know or have an answer.  But folks, when we drive down our highways or town streets we can thank our police service for keeping them safe for us. For we must remember that they are on duty at all times of the day and night, as well as in all kinds of weather. And they deal with all kinds of matters both large and small. So folks please remember that the next time you see a police officer, show him or her the respect they deserve and give them a big thank you for the job they are doing, keeping our towns and highways safe.

Our police officers do their jobs professionally and effectively and they deserve our outmost respect and thanks. I say thank you to all members of our RCMP as well to our local police service for a job well done.
